JHA Employment, Training Program Celebrates Brand-new Graduates
The Johnstown Housing Authority’s Employment and Training Program commemorated 8 graduates of the program’s second mate who entered a brand-new stage of life Friday.
The ceremony at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Richland Township marked a brand-new start for the graduates, who are set to look for further education or work in the Johnstown area, said JHA Executive Mike Alberts.
For the previous 4 months, those enrolled in the program completed courses offered by a collaboration among Penn Highlands, Johnstown Area Regional Industries and PA CareerLink.
The program included courses supplied at Johnstown public housing neighborhood rooms to remove individuals’ transportation barriers.
The curriculum consisted of dispute management, task search and interview abilities, Microsoft Word and Excel, and www.opad.biz life abilities management, in addition to excursion for a robotics bootcamp and tours of technology-based manufacturing companies consisting of Kitron and Compass Systems.
The event Friday commemorated the eight graduates of the program while acknowledging dozens more who registered, however opted out after finding work or other additional education opportunities along the method.

JARI Director of Workforce Development Dave Grimaldi said members of the program’s 2nd cohort have advanced to more education at Penn Highlands or other location schools for accreditation in fields consisting of HVAC, emergency medication and cybersecurity. The program is supplied at no charge to participants and finished its very first friend in June. After Friday’s graduation, two more accomplices are scheduled, Grimaldi said. The program has earned HUD recognition as a finest practice, a recognition offered to one authority annually for specifically improving the lives of its locals, Alberts said. The graduates received certificates and a standing ovation from friends and family in presence, in addition to Cambria County Commissioner Thomas Chernisky, Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce President Amy Bradley and representatives from U.S. Sen.
